Concrete is brick and stone. Websites are not brick and stone, yet they are, in some ways. Made from rocks and stardust and other stuff. Websites house code, dreams, nightmares, every breed of dog, all the donuts in the world. Walls create boundaries. They protect and they divide. Websites can do the same. Are they not also walls? Are they not also concrete?

An Ode to Concrete Poetry

What is concrete poetry?
"Concrete poetry is an arrangement of linguistic elements in which the typographical effect is more important in conveying meaning than verbal significance. It is sometimes referred to as visual poetry, a term that has now developed a distinct meaning of its own. Concrete poetry relates more to the visual than to the verbal arts although there is a considerable overlap in the kind of product to which it refers. Historically, however, concrete poetry has developed from a long tradition of shaped or patterned poems in which the words are arranged in such a way as to depict their subject."

So what is this place?
It's basically a place for me to put all my art related to words and text like shape poems and the like. Might also include normal poems. I hope you enjoy them, I think this is a really interesting artform.

I love donuts. It’s a simple shape—
a circle with a hole in it. It’s also called a torus
but it’s hard to remember and not really memorable at all.
I also love their flavors—you can put almost everything in a donut. I
especially love chocolate donuts. They’re not that interesting but they’re tasty. My
favorite brand is JCO donuts. I love their Oreology, it’s so powdery and tastes a go
od as Oreos, and their Coco Locos don’t really look like donuts since it’s just a circle
but they have gooey chocolate filling and they taste good no matter their tem
perature but I really like them warm. Which brings me to my next point because you
can fill a donut with practically anything. Strawberry jam, chocolate, cream, chee
se, whatever and it'll taste good. They’re a little messy to eat but you need effort
to do anything and they taste good so the messiness is worth it. Messy
just like this poem because it’s so rambly and train of thought. I feel
like the creator of the donut was also very rambly and train of
thought, and they just got the idea of a pastry in the shape
of a circle with a hole in it from a
wandering daydream.
